NSA confirmed:
Since WhatsApp is encrypted, much more nude pictures are sent!

Since a few months, WhatsApp finally encrypts the messages of its users. And the users seem to have confidence in the new technology, as the NSA confirms: According to data from the US secret service, WhatsApp users from all over the world are now increasingly sending private nude pictures.

"Whatsapp users now have much less inhibitions to send explicit photos and movies since they know their messages, images, videos and voice messages are automatically encrypted", said NSA Director Michael S. Rogers.

Overall, the number of sent naked pictures and videos has risen by 230 percent since WhatsApp implemented encryption.

Before the introduction of the end-to-end encryption usually only very naive users would have sent such files. "Now, however, even very caucious users send nude pictures", explains Rogers. "This is also likely to make our internal Friday challenge a little fun."

For the NSA it has been tradition for years to collect the most interesting pictures on a pinboard and always choose the most sexiest, witty and ugly WhatsApp users of the week on Fridays.

WhatsApp backdoor allows snooping on encrypted messages

A security backdoor that can be used to allow Facebook and others to read encrypted messages has been found within its WhatsApp messaging service.
WhatsApp has the ability to force the generation of new encryption keys for offline users, and to make the sender re-encrypt messages with new keys and send them again for any messages that have not been marked as delivered.

This re-encryption and rebroadcasting effectively allows WhatsApp to intercept and read users’ messages.

Report claiming that russian spies can 'crack' Telegram

A 35-page leaked report on President-elect Donald Trump makes a series of explosive claims, including that the Russian government can blackmail Trump with a tape of him watching a group of prostitutes performing a “golden shower” on the bed of a fancy Moscow hotel.

The report also alleges that Russian intelligence service FSB “cracked” Telegram.

Durov challenged the veracity of the report:
“I personally think the report is fake, but if it is not, it probably refers to the story on SMS interception by FSB in April 2016.”

Without Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) government agencies could intercept the authentication SMS by Telegram, impersonate you and log into your Telegram account.
It's really easy to set up 2FA, you should do it if you haven't already.

Facebook is killing batteries on Android

Since a few hours Facebook causes massive battery drain and overheating on many Android devices, up to one billion users are affected.
To see if you are affected check your battery usage statistics.
The only solution for now (until the bug is fixed) is to uninstall Facebook and Facebook Messenger.
Telegram, prepare your servers, if Facebook introduces this "feature" to WhatsApp there might be a lot of people joining 😉

Hello Friends!

My favourite post of the year (and the most impressive one) is this one, the summary of last year's new features. Telegram introduced a lot of great new features.

I tried to keep this list as short as possible, and still, it's longer than the list with the new features of 2015 was one year ago (click above).

New features included:

- Inline Bots
- Voice Messages 2.0 (raise-to-speak etc.)
- Secret Chats 3.0 (Stickers, Inline Bots, GIFs etc.)
- Better Photo Editor on Android
- Channels 2.0 (Links to Posts, Silent Messages etc.)
- Supergroups 5000 (Public Groups, Pinned Messages, Admin Tools)
- New Design on Android
- New Video Player on Desktop, iOS and Android
- Bot Platform 2.0 (inline keyboard, updates, inline mode)
- Instant Camera
- 3D Touch on iOS
- Edit Messages, New Mentions, Interface Improvements
- Drafts, Picture-in-Picture
- Trending Stickers, Personal Storage, Group Preview
- Masks and Homemade GIFs
- Gaming Platform 1.0
- Instant View, Telegraph, Groups in Common
- Pinned Chats and IFTTT Integrations
- Telegraph API
- Lots of improvements for the Android version in various updates.

Telegram also reached 15 billion messages delivered daily and 100 million monthly active users in February - that's almost one year ago, maybe we get new numbers soon 😉

All the best for 2017!

Do you think audio calls and video calls are necessary for a messenger in 2016 (📞) or do you prefer Telegram's approach of focussing on building the best messenger ever with many features like bots, channels, supergroups, multi device, games etc. (✉️) - and maybe adding calls if the demand gets bigger?
